Lightning Protection & Conductor Testing
Certified testing of lightning protection systems in accordance with BS EN 62305:2012.
Why Is Lightning Protection Testing Important?
Lightning protection systems divert electrical energy safely to the ground. Regular testing ensures the system is functional, compliant, and ready to protect your property. We use calibrated meggers and provide a full inspection report with recommendations.
How Do You Test a Lightning Conductor?
- Visual Inspection: Checking physical components and connections.
- Continuity Testing: Ensuring full electrical continuity throughout the system.
- Earth Resistance Testing: Measuring resistance using calibrated test instruments.
How Often Should Lightning Protection Be Tested?
At least once every 12 months. High-risk sites, such as biogas plants, may require more frequent inspections.
What Is the British Standard for Lightning Protection?
We follow BS EN 62305:2012, which governs the design, installation, and maintenance of lightning protection systems.
Can an Electrician Test Lightning Protection?
Lightning protection testing requires specialist equipment and knowledge. It should only be done by trained engineers with experience in BS EN 62305.
